Roger Jones’ musical “Torn Curtain”, which includes a setting of Holy Communion, was sung on Palm Sunday evening by the church’s Jubilate Singers, and was much appreciated by a capacity congregation. (Watch this space for news of another Roger Jones musical later in the year!)
Donations given by members and friends of the church for the areas of Famine in East Africa, in response to the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal, amounted to £353. Thanks are extended to all who contributed.
To celebrate its Sixth Anniversary, the church’s Jubilate singing group enjoyed Sunday Lunch at the Lakeside Golf Club, Garthmyl today, 12th March. Currently the group is busy rehearsing for a performance of Roger Jones’ “Torn Curtain” to be sung on Palm Sunday. Watch this space – more details to come!
On Monday 10th April, we are planning a trip to Birmingham, travelling by train, to attend the Lunchtime Organ Recital in the Symphony Hall. Thomas Trotter, City Organist, will be playing a programme of Easter Music. Contact us for more details.
Following an unannounced visit by the Environmental Health Officer during the Friendship Lunch on Saturday, 4th February, the church kitchen was given the all-clear, and volunteers were commended for their safe food operations. The catering team is proud that the church is to retain its top grade 5 rating for Food Safety and Hygiene.
Welshpool’s congregation is celebrating the news that one of its members, Andrea Davies, attended the recent Circuit Preachers’ Meeting, and was given a “note to preach”. Andrea will be leading her first service, assisted by fellow members of the church’s Jubilate Singing Group, on 6th February.
£380 has been raised for Action for Children this Christmas, with donations from a Monday morning Coffee and Carols event, and from Saturday morning shoppers, when a group sang carols in the High Street.
We sang carols on the church steps at the start of the town’s Winter Festival weekend, were open for coffee and lunches the next day, when festive stalls attracted bargain hunters, and later the evening concert featuring the JIGSAW SOUND singers with their Christmas programme was much enjoyed.
