Alpha course - Gallery Group
Last year we ran an Alpha Course and since its completion we have been holding a "Gallery Group" meeting once a month on the 3rd Friday of every month at 7.00 p.m. Each meeting starts with a drink with biscuits followed by viewing a film and then having a discussion on the topics raised in the film. All are welcome to join us.
Regular practices coincide with the Monday Morning Coffee Mornings at 10.00 a.m. They last about 75 minutes and we sing, mainly, Christian music. The timing allows for us to enjoy some refreshment and a chat as well as singing. All are welcome, musical prowess or the ability to read music, though desirable, is not necessary!
We performed "The Gift" by Graham Kendrick in a service on Sunday 17th December 2017 and sang Margaret Rizza's setting for Holy Communion, "Broken for You", which we presented, with Rev Bill Rowell officiating, on Sunday 15th April this year. By way of contrast, we sang Michael Hurd's "Jonah Man Jazz" in the evening service on 10th June during this year's Bible Month, when the chosen book on which to focus was Jonah, and presented this again at Trefeglwys Chapel on 15th July. We sang Roger Jones' "David" at Welshpool on 23rd September, and now we are preparing to sing his musical "While Shepherds Watched" on 9th December, and later in the month on 23rd we'll also be singing in the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols on 23rd.
Saturday 20th October - "Musical in a Day" when Annie Routley, joined by members of the Christian Music Ministries team, will teach us Roger Jones' musical "Jairus' Daughter", which will be performed at 7.30pm the same evening. (Lunch, optional, at 12noon, £5; singing starts at 1pm - no charge). Annie and the team are staying over and will lead morning worship on 21st at 10.45am.
